Design Approaches Worth Considering
One pattern throughout. A single Talavera design repeated on every riser creates a bold, cohesive statement — well suited to a staircase that's meant to be seen from an entryway or open-plan living space.
Alternating patterns. Two complementary designs alternating riser by riser adds movement and rhythm to the staircase without overwhelming it — a popular approach in both residential homes and hospitality spaces.
A single accent riser. For a subtler approach, tiling just one or two risers (such as the top or bottom step) introduces colour and craft without committing to the full staircase.
Installation Considerations
Stair risers see regular foot traffic and cleaning nearby, so proper installation matters. We'd recommend working with an experienced tiler familiar with ceramic tile installation, particularly for adhesive and grout selection suited to a stair environment.
